JOY! Yes, say it again - JOY! I smile when I say that word! It brings me pure joy when friends and clients discover their true life passion and life purpose. Valerie Langley has been a client and dear friend at TransFit for 3 years and has recently found that helping others though life coaching is her true life purpose! I am so proud of her for helping women by teaching them invaluable tools shift their thoughts to the positive, meditate and transform their lives into their dreams!
December Client Spotlight - Valerie Langley
I am so excited to share with you such an amazing client spotlight for December! Valerie Langley has made such a healthy life change this past year! Valerie has been working out at TransFit for almost one year and by exercising five days a week and changing her eating habits, Valerie, has lost over 15 pounds, and has decreased her body fat significantly! What I love about Valerie is that she always has a positive attitude and kind spirit! Valerie does everything she does with such heart and involves her husband and three small children in her efforts to have a healthy family. For example, Valerie messaged me daily that she completed the ab challenge two weeks ago and her 5-year-old daughter was doing planks with her!
So many accomplishments for Valerie in 2013 as she also ran her first half marathon this past October! Nothing stands in the way of this beautiful, hard-working nurse, and mother of three! Congratulations Valerie for reaching your healthy goals for 2013- can’t wait to see what the future will hold for you!
In her own words, “So last January I made the decision to get in shape and drop the "baby weight" I was carrying around. I decided to meet with Caroline and start making a change. I remember he first time we met she told me she wanted me to workout 5 days a week -- and I thought that was a crazy! But I was ready to make a change, so I did my best to get in 5 days a week. She also encouraged me to get in more fruits and veggies and to drink at least eight glasses of water. Finally this summer I really changed my diet cutting out most processed foods, sugar and artificial flavors and coloring. I now eat fruits and veggies with every meal and add in more protein (which I really had to be aware of). I have really learned how to make good decisions when eating out and now I'm cooking at home a lot more. ). I have to say I feel so much better physically and mentally. I have more energy and am trying to be a good example to my family of what a healthy lifestyle looks like. Here are a few of my favorite recipes!”
Rosemary Chicken Easy Weeknight Favorite
4-6 Chicken breasts
Mix
2 tbsp of Dijon mustard
2 tbsp of olive oil
1-2 cloves of garlic crushed
2 tbsp Worcestershire
Juice of 1 large or 2 small lemon
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Place the chicken in the mixture and let marinate over night if you have time or ok just for a few hours. I usually grill the chicken but it's also great baked and full of flavor! Serve with quinoa and roasted vegetables.
Simple Salsa Crock Pot Pork Tenderloin
1 unseasoned pork loin
1 jar of fresh salsa
1 tbsp olive oil
Pour oil in the crock pot then place the tenderloin. Pour the entire jar of salsa over the pork.
Cook on low for 4-6 hours. Serve with brown rice and black beans for a Mexican style dish!
Blessings friends don't forget about the December challenges!

This weekend was full of fun, active, outdoor activities for all ages! Saturday morning, many families came out (despite less than perfect weather) to the Omni Dawg Crawl so their children could participate in a fantastic obstacle course!
Sunday morning was the 4th annual AthHalf! Over 3000 runners ran this years half marathon through our beautiful city. Congratulations to all who participated in this fun event! So proud of hard working clients Cress Johnson, Valerie Langley, Meg Parker, Emily Kleiber, Laura Moore, Lacy Sinkwich and Tori Peirce who ran the race this year! And good luck to Bonnie Chambers and Cindy Clark who are walking 13 miles for Breast Cancer Awareness this Saturday!
Looking forward to training for our next race... who is in ? I would love to develop a training plan for your future race!
So honestly, what was going through my mind on the two most difficult hills on the AthHalf course,
Mile 6: I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength... & Mile 10: Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3).
What gets YOU through your most difficult moments?
Blessings, Caroline
HEALTHY ACTIVE FAMILY VACATIONS
Summer vacations are in full swing as we head into July. Make your summer vacation a healthier one this year by making time to eat healthier foods, take a longer walk or run on the beach, or play active games with the family at your destination. Enjoying these extra moments with family helps you relax and refuel for the upcoming months. I have recently heard of so many families making better choices for their family vacations that I had to brag on them in hopes to inspire YOU to plan a more active, healthy family vacation this year.
Valerie Langley and her family organizes an entire family beach 5k equipped with water stops and 5k t-shirts! Each year the 5k group has grown, with a record turn out this year, and Valerie achieved a record time of 25 minutes!
The Kilgore family has made a change from staying in a hotel in Amelia island to staying in a condo with a full kitchen so they can prepare their meals and not eat out as often. Some of Suzanne's families favorite staples are yogurt parfaits, smoothies, and raw veggies (such as cucumbers and carrots) with hummus.
The Bennett family next week plans to join together for a family vacation after many family members run the Peachtree road race. Their 4th of July festivities include purple cable slaw & roasted beets in a vinaigrette, followed by yoga on the grassy lawn! WOW!
I just love these fresh ideas! Our family just returned from a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia where my husband, Kelly, competed in his first Half Iron Man in 17 years. A company named Rev 3 organized the race and touts this event as a family friendly race with a 1 mile glow run, a family adventure course, and the triathlon. At the race finish, the company sets up jumpy houses, face painting, hoola hoops, and poster decorating making it fun for all! We like to incorporate our family vacations with a race or active event - so the days after the race we toured Colonial Williamsburg, slid down the water park rides, and experienced roller coasters at Busch Gardens!
The Matthews family also traveled to Williamsburg to enjoy a fun, active family vacation. Jason, UGA Accounting Professor, has recently started competing in triathlons and over the past year has transformed his lifestyle completely. His wife, Pam, and four children enjoy coming to support him in his new found passion!
Eating healthy at these theme parks and vacation destinations can be tricky, but planning ahead makes it possible!!! We always pack a backpack full of water bottles, nuts ,apples ,and premade sandwiches in case of those "I am starving!" moments. Of course, we let the kiddos have a treat while out, but trying to teach them to make their own smart choices will help them to become stronger and healthier so that they can grow strong and enjoy all the Busch Gardens rides!
Here is a list of some vacation travel snacks for you to pack! Never leave home without your cooler in your car!
